thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

what's going on? Mike Miller?

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Hey there, Keith. Oh, golly. See, I started off went wrong already. I said

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Wait. He threw

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Keith.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Hey. He threw you a curve ball though, no pun intended.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I was sitting there looking at Keith and To the Tom.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

He threw you a curve ball?

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Hey, did All right. Here we go. Start over. Okay.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

What's going on? Keith Pickens.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Hey. What's going on tc? What's up, Mike?

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Hey, Keith. Hey, Tom. How you guys

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Good.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Good.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

So you didn't like that curve ball threw at you, huh? Mike?

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I wasn't ready for that

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That plays right into our conversation of sports today.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Mike said it was always age before beauty. Now you threw the beauty before age in there that just messed everything up.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Get outta here. Okay.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

so we had a week off, because I was not feeling great, but we also had a strategy meeting, so that kind of worked out for us. This week we said let's make this a barbershop type real talk conversation. I presented to you guys before our session. A question in Detroit Sports, who is your person? Go with you, Mike Miller.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

It is hard to pick a person.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

It

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

You know what? It could because a generational, it's a generational situation.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I mean

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Not only that, it is several sports.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Correct.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

We are sports towns.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That's right.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

And we've had many great sports figures that we can say, oh, this is my favorite. I'm gonna say Tommy Hitman. Hearns.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Okay.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That's

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Okay.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

The Hitman.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Definitely a good one.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Anybody else, the Willie Mays, the Curtis Rose I say Willie Mays Willie Horton,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

right?

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Curtis Rowe, and of course Isaiah for the Pistons. I'm going even back to Dave Lan. I used to love Bob

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Same here.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

that.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Dave Bing was my guy.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Okay. Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

this is the only town. Of the country that, that had each major sport, NHL be M-L-B-N-F-L-N-B-A, where they all had their own arena. A lot of towns can't say that, can't say that their major sports teams had their own venue. Because of ownership changes and things of that nature. It's a consolidation of arenas.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Right.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

They're typically all in the same vicinity now.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. That means a lot.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Okay.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

It does.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

So what do you say, Keith? Who is your person?

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Oh, my guy is,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

a guy that is going to age me, or it takes me all the way back. As a matter of fact, this guy is responsible for my passion for baseball. Willie Horton is my guy. We're going way back to 67 68. He made a great impression on a young kid in terms of having somebody who looks like me be so successful. I could, I could run off the stats for that year. Yeah, that, and he still and to this day, I think he was born in 42, if I'm not mistaken, but to this day, he's still an honorary tiger. He's at all of the games and he's represented, they've got a statue of him outside of, comerica. So that's my guy.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Okay.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah, I was curious too, that you said when you said Willie Horton, I was like, is that somebody you could run the stats for? And you said you could. So that's interesting.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Do you have a favorite time?

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I don't have a favorite. I just have a person

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Okay.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I'm tied to memories with this person, And that would be Dave Bing.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Oh

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

You go.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Number 21, right?

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah, my stepfather was a big sports fan for the city. We, before the picture and picture TVs, he would have a 13 inch sitting on top of a 20 inch. One sport going while the other sport was gone. And then, whichever one it was his favorite or whichever one was going in the right direction. Got the main screen and yeah, he was a big sports fan. And then him and his buddies. We were always down at COBO Hall, during the piston games, when he married my mom, I got a chance to go to a couple of those games to see the intensity of, a professional basketball game At the old COBOL Hall Arena. The fact that he became mayor of the city was something big too.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

If I had to choose, he would've been my guy for basketball for sure,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

again, he was somebody that made an impression on me at a young age, Because I aspired to play sports, baseball in particular, but sports, period. I love sports even to today. he was somebody that represented us well, when I say us, our culture.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Right.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Very well in terms of his professionalism, but not only that, he was a great player. Dave Bing would've been my guy if we were talking specifically about basketball.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Would he be your guy overall?

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I think because it takes me back, it is a nostalgic point. It takes me back to a time when things were a lot more simple for me as a kid. Of course, how could you not love Isaiah Thomas? And there are some people who don't, I think Isaiah was a great basketball player and somebody during his time that I really admired Chauncey Billups. But yeah, I think if I had to pose a question and you specifically said, who was your favorite Detroit basketball sports figure, I would've said Dave B.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yep.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Mike, who would you say as far as your overall athlete?

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

O overall athlete. Wow.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah while you think about it, I'm gonna say,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

that's a.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I'm gonna say Arthur Ashe.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Okay.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah, I'm gonna say Arthur Ashe.'cause he was a classy guy I loved tennis when I was growing up. It was a big thing. He was the first to represent us on a real national, big national scale.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

the guy that I would've looked at, he floated like a butterfly and he stung like a bee Because what he did during that time, I was just reading something recently. Actually I saw a YouTube video, the guy was interviewing him and he was trying to throw him curve balls and he kept bringing it back to the fact that, I do what I do and I support what I support because. For people who look like me, it's important to, have a positive mindset, to have, positive examples. He honored, he was obviously a member of the Nation of Islam. And the honorable Elijah Muhammad was somebody that he was a student of, that interview, and I'll share it with you guys. I think I can find it on YouTube. It was such a great interview, but he was somebody that I admired. If I'd have taken up boxing, it would've been to mimic everything that he did.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Wow.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

And I'm gonna say, when you say overall athlete, just athlete, right now, what comes to mind is Michael Jordan, as far all the running and jumping, that you have to do in basketball.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That your answer.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That's not my answer. When you, the amount of running that you have to do 48 minutes of, going back and forth down a hardwood floor. Your knees are really not made for that. All of the running and jumping and the way he kept himself together athletically, michael Jordan was a very good athlete.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah, but I really have to think on that a little bit more. Overall athlete, but right now comes to mind, I'm gonna say Jordan.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. So to tie in or the lead in for that, since Mike was leading up to it what's your opinion? Because I don't think we wanna have a right answer here. It's debatable. The question I'm about to ask, But what's the toughest sport for an athlete?

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Are we including the decathlon

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

and all that?

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

He said sport.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yep.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That's

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I'm going to, go out and say boxing. But I have a runner up. But boxing is'cause you as a male I am sure it's the same way with females, but I've been speaking from a male perspective. When you got another man weighing 200 pounds, I'm speaking heavyweight, Wailing on you

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

right.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

for however long those rounds go, three minute rounds or whatever they are.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

And you go up to 12 rounds or something like that that's a lot.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That is,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

would have to be the toughest sport,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

i'm gonna interject in that. I'm gonna really play off of what you said. I'm gonna say football And hockey is a tough sport, but football,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yes. Hockey's tough.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

200, 250, 270 pound pounding on each other, think football. When you have 300 pound guys running, 4, 6, 4, 4, 7. Whatever they're quick and they're strong. They're gladiators, man. They're modern day gladiators, and these guys do it. You got offense and you got defense side of the ball. So you got, you certainly couldn't play both sides of the ball. You, nobody could endure that. But the pounding that they take, how fast they, and today's athletes are, in my opinion, even far more superior in a lot of ways on average than the athletes of all. When you have these guys going up against each other in battle, constantly play after play. I think about those guys like a running back who has to endure the pounding, but if he breaks free, he may have to run 70, 80 yards. Think about this. 70 or 80 yards is what? 270 yards is what? 210 feet? Something like

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Like that.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

It was thinking about, you know how I used to try to run a hundred yard dash when I was young and how that was nothing. Then I looked at a football field the other day. I was actually at the Lions training camp, and I looked at how big that field is I said to Tiffany, these guys have to run a hundred yards. I do good to run 20, 30 yards today. Because it's just so grueling. The whistle is short. You know what I'm saying? The play is over. Unless they take a timeout, you're back to it. And so I agree that boxing is a really tough physical sport, but I think football even takes a little bit more. They pound each other day in, and they play every week essentially, boxing, you can schedule a match, whenever you get ready, really,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Right.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

You don't see'em fight 3, 4, 5 times in a year,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

No.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

So not to disparage what you say or to discount what you're saying, but if it were me, if it my, in my opinion, I would say certainly football.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. Okay.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I tend to agree the linemen on the football field take the most gruesome pounding. And they have to do it every week you said, I'm gonna agree with the football, but Wow. When you think about it, boxing. You can only fight once a year.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I didn't think of it that way

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

can't schedule too many boxing matches in a year.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

No.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

that wouldn't

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

You can't,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Uhuh. No.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

and being knocked out, that's gotta be pretty tough.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. They should outlaw that.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Let me put a twist on the question. What sport requires the most endurance.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I don't really know a lot about rugby. I can't imagine that I would last very long personally.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

look at it from the perspective, you just have to be totally energized. And I'll throw out a second one. Those guys that play hockey, that is incredible to me that they can do what they do on those one blades, skates

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

and forth, and just the physicality of it.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

And the weight. The weight of the gear.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

And the gear.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah, I don't know much about rugby. I've watched it here and there and they don't really have all the padding and so forth, They're so physical. It just seems like that would be tough.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I'm interested in hearing what you guys have to say.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I am gonna say I'm not sure. It is not the decathlon. think that's the one I'm thinking of. It's the one where you have to.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Swim, bike and run. Tri

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Oh my

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

triathlon.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

it.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Triathlon.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That's it.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Now that's endurance right there.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

True.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Those things.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

that's true.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

oh my

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I'm gonna go with

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That's true.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

for endurance.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

amazing when I like to watch it, when is that next summer Olympics,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

not next summer.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

so to your point, Mike within that triathlon, there's those guys who are cyclists and that. Particular I, it's not, I don't wanna say it's a sport, but it's an event, the Tour de France which was just going on and that's a lot of riding And a lot of hills.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

And for how long do they ride a day? They ride for hours a day, huh?

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

they,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

For how long? I was saying the whole event is more, is

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yes.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

but you're

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

they ride for essentially a day.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

day.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

all day,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. I thought about that when I heard about the event. That's the one that Lance Armstrong used

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yep.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah, you're right. That's significant endurance.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

And then the sport that Mike and I not, we don't followed particular, but we followed Indy car, but F1 drivers.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Okay.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

F1 drivers, man, they're doing five Gs in those cars. Their reaction time. And if you're in an accident, that can be 10 times the GForce.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Sure.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

But the training, is just as much as a triathlon athlete.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Correct. Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

to endurance. Going back to endurance again as a twist on the question, whether it's the toughest one or not.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

You guys had me rethink that. I can remember watching the triathlon and thinking how gruesome that is and how tough that has to be. I don't even know what type of training they go through specifically to get to that, but your cardio has to be intact.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Oh wow.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I was looking at something that said the heart rate for the F1 drivers is like 170.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah, they

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

For that whole time period.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Okay.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Okay.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

to crash. Woo.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

But the tri.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

not.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

The triathlon is, what is it? Is it swim? Three miles? How long do they bike?

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

man

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

of course there's a marathon in there, so it's 26.2 on that.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Oh my gosh.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Swim man.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

If we had a producer for the show, we could have somebody look it up. But it looks like Keith got that hat right now.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah, I'm just trying to see the distances vary, but the main distances are Sprint 750 meter swim, 20 kilometer bike. And five kilometer run. They talk about half Iron Man and different variations, but

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

that half

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah, that's grueling too, right?

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah, you're on point with that triathlon. I didn't really know much about rugby, but I imagine that's gotta be a pretty tough sport because it's physical. But you're right. I think the triathlon would be tougher

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

require more, definitely

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Now remember it was two different, yeah, it was two different ones. If one was tough, like you said, you gotta be strong And mask,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

the

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I say masculine, but the endurance part.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Oh boy.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

the political or touchy subject of the sports world, whether it was Title ix. Billie Jean King representation on the tennis court universities, getting funding, And whether it be a women's rowing team or a women's volleyball team, or a women's softball team, or whatever the case may be. But now, today there's a whole new conversation regards to transgender. Sports.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Right.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

And it probably only pertains to, but it could only seem like a physical sports, track, yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. Track and field, for sure. Tennis, I guess could be impacted by

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

It

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

that as well,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Any paddle sport, tennis pickleball, Pat all of'em Racketball. Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Do you think it should be, the associations that handles that, or you think it should be a political thing or what's your guys' opinions on it?

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

don't think it should be a political thing personally,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I think we've got enough things for our people to do other than worry about

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

just.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

what sport.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Right.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

my opinion is that. If you're born a male, no matter what you do, you're still a male. Just been altered,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

If you're born a female, no matter what you do, you're still a female. You've

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That's

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

when it comes to sports, no, I don't think

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

But do the not steroids. What's the drug or the shots they're taking the hormone shots

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

hormone, right?

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Does that diminish? A male

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

it,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

or does.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

does

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I know,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

So it still doesn't make'em equal,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

No.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

right?

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

No.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I still think that the male would have an unfair advantage in the female sport. Now, I don't know, are there any statistics to show that? You know what I

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I don't know. It just seems to me that they would have an unfi like Jenner, he went on to play, what was it after the change

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah he tried to play tennis, but I don't know if that was competitive tennis.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Oh yeah. Okay. All right. No, that wasn't Competitive.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah, I say once a male, always a male, you're gonna have an advantage. Even with the shots, you're gonna still have an advantage A female sport and vice versa. I, I don't see a female having an advantage, in a Sport. I just don't see it. I'm just gonna leave it at that. Maybe some are just as good. I'm not saying they're not,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

There are anomalies. Mike, to your point, and this is sports specific that we're talking about.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Right.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

So'cause I'm an open-minded person, but I agree with you. I don't think that. A transgender male should be competing, against females. And certainly there will be some females in that same sport that probably has a greater skillset buy in by, but I think for the most part. Especially if it's a physical sport. I just don't think that it's fair. I know that's a hot bed. I know that's a hot potato, whatever they wanna call it, I just think, Mike has, expressed it very well. I just don't think that the males should the transgenders. Who are now females who were born males should be able to compete in women's sports.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

No

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Go ahead, Mike.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Especially in college sports.'cause it seems to me that,'cause everybody's young and a lot stronger, between 18 and 23. Yeah. No matter what they do to a male, you still going have, you're gonna have a physical advantage, That age. Yeah. No. Transgender,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Should the entities that you know monitor or administer these sports, should it be considered an open category? Should they have their own category?

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That's interesting. That makes it tougher, Tom, because at this point in our history, how many transgender athletes can we even speak of that are participating, whether it be on a college level or high school level, whereas it would enable them to have their own category or their own league. what I'm saying? We are

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

we it was probably would be introduced just probably starting with track and field. Or maybe tennis but you can't have a team, based off the open category. But if you have individuals participating,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

open category, define it a category that's solely for transgender

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Correct.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

So they had a, what do they call the Paralympics for people with.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

No, I'm not saying that they would have their own, that's an option. I guess that's an option. They have their own division or anything like that. I'm saying they participate, in against, these male female categories,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

what you're saying.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

For a crew team, crew, team rowing, you compete against the males as a transgender.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I would say it would be up to the governing bodies of those sports

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I agree.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

To handle it,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

sure.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

It's not up to Congress we got enough of them to

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Right.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Right.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

up to the governing bodies of a specific sport to come up with, how they wanna handle that. I can't say that there are enough athletes to have a whole division one sport Them. Should they have, if it's enough, sure. If they got funding for it, and, I'm sure the government not gonna fund it, but if they can secure funding for it. I'm not gonna say no, they can't have it. That's up again, up to the governing bodies of those sports and universities and, high schools

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

up with what they're gonna do.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I think it goes down, to the governing bodies. I think when it comes to schools, it comes down to the school board and

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Right?

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That community to make that decision. Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

And again, it's gotta be funded. No matter what if they wanna do it, okay, who's gonna fund you?

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

that's what it's gonna come down to.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

so

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

So you were,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

answer.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I was just trying to even fathom any circumstance where I could see where that could pan out, because then I started projecting forward to instance, professional baseball. You've got a transgender person was a male and now is a female. And they want to play continue to because they had a skillset to continue to play ball and now they're good enough where they can get to a pro level. H how is that something where men, players for instance, would even embrace. Someone who was once a male, who's now a female, even though they have the skillset to play ball, to be in the locker room. There's so many different components and facets that you have to look at

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Oh yeah, for sure.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

And that, and I think in a lot of ways, that's the biggest thing I've seen. Young female swimmers just say they went along with it.'cause they more or less had to go along with it. Particularly since Trump has done what he has by cutting the funding. But they were uncomfortable sharing a locker room with somebody that is transgender or, you know what I'm saying? They just try to be politically correct because of the times we're in. But now a lot of them are exhaling because in truth, they didn't want to do it, but they had to because, they would've looked like they were being discriminatory so I think that it makes it difficult once you've made that choice, to go from one sex to another, everything doesn't have to turn on a dime for you. Now you're throwing off the whole system, right? The whole balance of things. And so now you're saying this is a choice I made personally for me. Now I want you guys to embrace or accept me for who I am by allowing me to play in the sport. With a gender that, that is different what I was born so it becomes a situation where when you make that life changing decision you really gotta consider everything that goes with it.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Have to consider everything that goes with it.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yep.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Now you're expecting everything to change because you changed,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Not gonna happen. And sports is really not the arena for that.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Because that's a competition.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Once born a male, no matter what they do to your body, you are still a

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

You're still a male.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

how many shots you take

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

it is,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

It just it

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Is that your expert opinion? Michael Miller?

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. That's my

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

ah,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Hey Tom. I

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

and he start,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

opinion.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

he started, it sounded like he was at the podium in the lecture hall.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I wouldn't want to watch a woman's sport, and then someone's transgender in there and see them just dominate,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

in the back of your mind. Fair to the athlete.'cause you're always gonna be thinking you,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

It would be the asterisk mark.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah. It'd be an asterisk.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I wanna watch women's, I wanna see women compete against women

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

All right.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Do what they do,

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

That's okay though. It is what it is. These are changing times It's going

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

be a political hotbed for quite some time.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Change is difficult and slow

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

right.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

We'll see what they come up with.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

when you say change, Michael Miller, the few things that allowed things to change was sports.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Things changed in sports before it changed in military, culture and society.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Very

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Sports

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

true.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Was a spot,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Very true.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Possibly music,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

wait, eh?

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah. But

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

see

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I see what you're saying. Yeah, very true. Change was coming first.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

For us,

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yes. Absolutely. I don't know.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

We don't have the answer, sir. We're just in the barbershop talking.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Correct.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Correct.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Even though Keith Pickens is in his man cave, and Mike Miller looks like he's sitting in his dining room

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yep.

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

and I'm sitting in the room with a closed door.

keith-guest386_1_08-04-2025_160025:

But this, discussion is barbershop based and always gonna be my out. I'm not the subject matter expert. This is specifically, my opinion. Not agree with it. But this is where I stand,

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

Yeah.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

There you go. It's my opinion. You might not agree with

thomas-corley_1_08-04-2025_160025:

And as Michael Miller says, I'm sticking with it.

michael-miller_1_08-04-2025_160025:

I'm sticking with it, right? That's my story. I'm sticking to it. Yes, sir.
